Sim-Perfection

Sim-Perfection is a competition born from the idea that your Safety Rating is as important as your iRating.

It uses a different scoring system to the one used by iRacing.

Challenge Score V2

I would like to credit TomToday from TDI99 for this scoring system. You can download his F499 tracker from GitHub.

Qualifying Score

  • 2 points for pole;
  • 1 point if you are in the top 3rd of the field;
  • otherwise 0 points

Race Score

Your race score depends on your finish percentile if you are not on the podium.

  • 1st: 6pts;
  • 2nd: 4pts;
  • 3rd: 3pts;
  • Top 3rd of field: 2pts;
  • Second 3rd of field: 1pt;

Incident Score

Your incident score (IncS) ranges from 4 pts for ZeroX and -8pts for over 16 incidents.

  • 0 incidents = 4 pts;
  • 4 incidents = 0 pts;
  • 8 incidents = -2 pts;
  • 12 incidents = -4 pts:
  • 16 incidents = -6 pts:
  • otherwise = -8 pts

The raw IncS is then adjusted based on a race_time_leveller and your own safety rating.

MATHS BONUS THRESHOLD BONUS
Positive Incident Scores IncS = IncS * RTL > 4.00 SR + 5%
Negative Incident Scores IncS = IncS / RTL < 3.00 SR + 5%

Race Time Leveller

The Race Time Leveller (RTL) is given by the length of the race is divided by the Long Race Threshold (LRT) plus 1. LRT has a default of 45 mins.

RACE LENGTH MATHS RTL
20 mins (20/45) + 1 0.44
45 mins (45/45) + 1 2
120 mins (120/45 + 1 3.67

Background

In a blog post titled Safety Ratings—a cure for the mayhem in online racing games?, published by iRacing in 2010, Dave Kaemmer describes the thought process that went behind the safety rating system.

In that post he proposes that "the best way to learn is to find a balance between pushing yourself to go faster, and keeping your aggression under control, so you don’t crash too often. The iRacing safety rating, or SR, system is designed to give you some clues about how well you’re doing at finding that balance."

A simple rule of thumb is:
